Tangata o le Moana- People of the sea, represents our Polynesian culture.
From Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia which shows no matter where we are or where we go, we are connected by the ocean.
The turtle that explores our oceans represents longevity, endurance and wisdom. Our tamariki show us this everyday with the challenges they face as they walk through the gates of Mahora.
The hook represents safe passage over the ocean when travelling and we see this as a point of our Y6 tamariki, a safe new journey as they leave us and embark on their future ahead.
Flowers represent the bright future ahead for our tamariki. The music symbol plays a big part in our kura as we sing to welcome people, sing to lift up our wairua and sing as we farewell.
Let this Pou be a journey as you sail the ocean from where you started to wherever it will lead you. Know that you are always connected to Mahora School. Let the turtle lead the way, The colours of the Pacific! Tangata o le Moana- People of the sea!
Piki Haere!
